Dr Kym Buttsworth

Male GP

Dr Kym Buttsworth has been delivering primary care services to the communities of Kinross and Currambine for 20 years. He has an interest in aged care. He is committed to medical education and is an accredited WAGPET GP supervisor.

Dr Mariette Smit

MBCHB (Stell), FRACGP

Female GP

Marriette Smit studied medicine at the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa. She then gained experience in hospital and rural medicine, followed by work as a forensic medical officer. She relocated to Australia in 2002 and worked full time delivering primary care services to the community of Gingin for sixteen years.

Her special interests include: aged care, women's health, minor surgery and mental health. She is also an examiner for the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.

Dr Deirdre O'Shea

FRACGP, MRCPUK, DRCOG, Dip Med El

Female GP

Dr Deirdre O’Shea is an Irish GP who moved to Perth with her family in 2017. She obtained her primary medical degree with University College Cork, Ireland. She then spent a number of years gaining experience in hospital medicine including Cardiology, Care of the elderly and Gastroenterology.

She obtained Membership of the Royal College of Physicians in 2014. She subsequently completed her GP training, obtaining a Diploma in Medicine for the Elderly and a Diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology along the way.

She has special interests in Women’s Health, Paediatrics, Occupational Health and Workers Compensation, Chronic Disease Management and Travel Medicine. She performs Implanon insertion and removal and Mirena removal.

She also has an interest in medical education.

When she isn’t working, or being a busy mum of two, she enjoys open water swimming and triathlons.

Dr Nicoli Cox

FRACGP

Female GP

Dr Nicoli Cox completed her medical degree at the University of Western Australia. She then gained experience in hospital medicine including paediatrics, cardiology, and aged care. During this time, she completed further study in paediatrics (Sydney Child Health Program) and a Certificate in Reproductive and Sexual Health. She attained Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2022.

Dr Cox has a special interest in paediatrics and women’s health, including pregnancy care. She performs Implanon insertion and removal.

Dr Ivana is from Perth and completed a Doctor of Medicine at the University of Western Australia. She is interested in all aspects of holistic care in general practice, focusing on inclusive healthcare, sexual health, and preventative health, particularly evidence-based lifestyle management.

Dr Kylie Yu is a locally trained GP registrar. She studied at UWA and gained experience in hospital medicine working at Sir Charles Gardiner Hospital, Perth Children’s Hospital and King Edward Memorial Hospital. She has special interests in children’s and women’s health, and is completing postgraduate qualifications in pediatrics. She is qualified in Implanon insertion.
